| Library |
| The
word “ LIBRARY” is rich in tradition, meaning, and usage. It is said
that the real purpose of books is to train the mind into doing its own
thinking. In a world that is in the grip of a digital revolution,
schools have the responsibility of sustaining and elevating the interest
and love of students for books and reading. The printed word will never
lose its relevance and excitement, whatever the allurement that the
television and computer screen may hold for humanity. Establishment of
libraries in schools should not be perceived merely as a statutory
requirement. We should wholeheartedly strive to rise above such a
restricted view so that the student community is really and truly
introduced into the enchanting world of books, information and
knowledge. The school library provides information, inculcates ideas,
and develops knowledge that is so essential to functioning successfully
in today’s information and knowledge based society. Library plays a
vital role in the realm of creativity. Children should take to reading
just for the pleasure it holds. Once they are hooked to books, they will
never, in their lives, feel lonely because they will always have the
great minds and hearts of authors, biographers, novelists, simple story
tellers, and dramatists and poets as their companions. Book fairs are
also being organised by different publishers from time to time to
inculcate reading habits and interest among the students. Library
facilities in school will certainly contribute towards raising the
standard and quality of education. |
